The
Cave is one of my very first serious paintings of all time. "Serious"
in the sense that I actually put some effort into it, waited for
parts of it to dry and then continued, etc. And it wasn't for
a girl :) I don't remember if this had anything to do with it
- and frankly, I doubt it seeing as I think I painted this years
before it came out - but this has always reminded me of the little
island where the forest spirit in Princess Mononoke lives. The
big grey boulder in the center has always looked more like the
receeding depths of a cave to me - hence the name. In all, its
just a representation of an image I had in my mind of a serene
and etherial place, and painted from my memories of watching Bob
Ross... |
